package.In your role as an engineer at Horizon Surgical Systems,
you will design components and systems (hardware and software) as
part of a complete product subjected to FDA regulations. Your
design will be subject to safety and efficacy requirements.Required
Qualifications and Abilities:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in
Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a
related field.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of database technologies, both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL)
and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB).
- Proficiency in working with Linux OS.
- Familiarity with platforms like ROS, ROS 2, or similar is a
plus.
- 10+ years of experience in software development, with solid
understanding of SDLC. Experience in the medical device or surgical
robotics industry is a plus.
- Experience with backend frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Django)
and/or frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Angular).
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google
Cloud Platform.
- Experience with medical image data management (e.g., DICOM) is
a plus.
- Experience with Qt is a plus.
- Knowledge of robotics communication protocols and
middleware.
- Deep understanding of real-time systems.
- Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker.
- Familiarity with CI/CD using tools like Jenkins.
- Familiarity with software and system architecture formality
like UML or SysML.
- Proficiency with tools like Git/JIRA/Confluence and platforms
like GitHub.
- Familiarity with IEC 62304, TIR57, TIR97 is a plus.
- Knowledge of cyber security is a plus.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational
abilities.
- Good communication skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary
teams.
- Responsibilities:
- System Architecture & Design:
- Design, implement, and optimize backend components of our
surgical robotics software.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers and frontend software
engineers.
- Integration with Robotic Systems:
- Develop and maintain APIs and services that interface with
robotic hardware.
- Understand the surgical process and robotic
functionalities.
- Performance & Reliability:
- Ensure the robustness, reliability, and safety of the
software.
- Optimize applications for maximum performance, scalability, and
user experience.
- Collaboration & Cross-functional Input:
- Work closely with robotics engineers, medical professionals,
and other stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, surgical
methodologies, and best practices in software development.
- Implement robust testing and validation procedures to ensure
