seeking a Special Education Support Specialist to join our team.Job
SummaryThe ideal candidate will have a valid, current California
SPED education specialist credential and the ability to work
collaboratively with students, teachers, and staff.As a Special
Education Support Specialist, you will provide academic
adaptations, self-care, and social/behavioral support to students
with mild to moderate or severe disabilities.Key
Responsibilities
- Case Management: Manage the caseload of special education
students, including those with mild to moderate or severe
disabilities.
- Communication: Respond to parent, student, teacher, staff, and
admin inquiries via phone and/or email within 24 hours during the
regular work week.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively within the special
education team and across departments in a professional
manner.
- Documentation: Ensure compliance with all federal and state
timelines for documentation and IEPs.
- Scheduling: Monitor IEP due dates and scheduling, including
full team attendance and participation.
- Reporting: Email all approved provider reports to parents prior
to IEPs.
- IEP Management: Write and manage IEPs for all students on
caseload in SEIS and send all IEP drafts to administrators for
review.
- Electronic Signatures: Monitor and upload electronic signatures
in a timely manner.
- Progress Reports: Complete IEP Progress Reports for each
student 2x/year.
- SAi Lessons: Create and prepare SAi lessons for
caseload.Requirements
- Credential: Valid, current California SPED education specialist
credential.
- Background Clearance: State and federal background clearance
(LiveScan) to work with students (Education Code Section
44237).
- TB Test: Proof of a clear TB test dated within the last 60 days
(Education Code Section 49406) upon employment and thereafter
updated every four years.Preferred Requirements
- Degree: Bachelors Degree or higher.
- Work Experience: Past work experience in a school.
- Special Education Experience: Experience working with children
with special educational needs.Salary and Benefits
- Pay: Teacher Assistant's pay will reflect qualifications and
experience level.
